Hi bookworms! Today’s post is very exciting…as I’m going to be talking about what I get up to on my Friday nights!
Haha no. I don’t go out clubbing or drinking or partying like normal teenagers. I either stay in and read, go out and buy books or I attend book signings and talks. Honestly…I’m not just talking about Friday nights. I’m talking about any night of the damn week.
I can almost hear the whispers of any not-bookish teenagers out there…are you serious?
Anyway, before I get too distracted by my love for Arrested Development, let’s get back to my Friday night. I was lucky enough to attend the Worlds Collide Tour…hosted by none other than Leigh Bardugo and Rainbow Rowell!
We started with a little discussion from the two authors, which was not only funny and entertaining but also so damn heartwarming. Leigh and Rainbow just click! They get on so well, and it really shows. After that lovely little warm up, we had a reading from Carry On, with Rainbow reading Simon and Leigh reading Baz’s dialogue. This was, again, full of humour! Not only did we have inside jokes, but we also had bookish snippets (mentioning a certain Bella Swan) that made everyone double over with laughter. Honestly, I laughed more than I did when I went to see live comedy last!
We then had a Six of Crows reading by both authors, and finished with a Q&A session! Both authors answered every question in detail, with humour and great collaboration. It made for an informative but also entertaining night.
While we waited for the signing, I went over and chatted to another bookworm (whoop for bookworm meet-ups!), who I met at an event a couple of months ago. Then they called us up in groups for signings. We did have to wait a while, but it’s inevitable at events like this. And it meant we each got more time with the authors!
But I couldn’t go to a signing like this and not take something for the lovely authors. As you may have noticed in the pictures above – those are not books the authors are holding. They’re cakes! Yes, I spent Thursday evening making cake replicas of two of the books I love so very much.
In return, the lovely Rainbow & Leigh dedicated all of my books to me! I still feel honoured!
I had a lovely evening and got Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, Carry On, Fangirl, Kindred Spirits, Eleanor & Park and Landline all signed! Thanks again to both authors and to Waterstones & Manchester Central Library for putting on such an amazing event. I feel so lucky to have attended!
May your shelves forever overflow with books! ☽
