May 1st marks the first day of Mental Health Month. Mental health is something that I hold very close to my heart, and something I have a lot of personal experience with.
That can bring you down. A lot. But sometimes, we need to look at positive ways to use our bad experiences – and I’m hoping I can help my followers in some way this month by taking part.
I will be taking part in two ways:
1. As recommended in Tumblr’s Post It Forward, I will be writing weekly posts on Tumblr about my experiences.
2. Every day of the month, I will be posting, Tweeting, Facebooking and Instagramming a YA book that talks about mental health.
3. When I can, I will also mention Mental Health Month on my blog and maybe even on YouTube.
Anyway, on with today’s beautiful quote – and we begin this month with a book I’ll likely talk about a lot over our discussions about Mental Health.
“The trouble is, depression doesn’t come with handy symptoms like spots and a temperature, so you don’t realize it at first. You keep saying “I’m fine” to people when you’re not fine. You think you SHOULD be fine. You keep saying to yourself: “Why aren’t I fine?”
― Sophie Kinsella,
Let’s begin this precious journey with a positive note – we will be holding hands through the whole month. This will probably be hard, both for me and for you, but we are not alone.
May your shelves forever overflow with books! ☽
