Let’s Discuss! Packing for YALC

DSC_0017For the English bookworm, this weekend marks one of the most exciting on the calendar. This weekend marks the Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC), and I couldn’t be more excited to be attending. Unfortunately I’ll only be able to make one day (tomorrow), but I’m happy to be going at all!

For those that don’t know, YALC is basically our bookcon. It’s a gathering of authors and fans for stalls, talks and signings. There are some amazing authors going this year and I (of course) am taking a suitcase full of my books to have signed!

One of those books is the beautiful A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard. I was lucky enough to meet Sara after she published Beautiful Broken Things, and I love her even more after reading this one too!

I met Gemma Cairney at last years YALC, before she even became a published author! She gave me some wise words about going to college, and this lady was right. I am definitely going to thank her when I see her this year!

One of the authors I’m most hyped up to meet is Patrick Ness. I unfortunately just missed him at a signing last year, so I’m happy I’ll get to meet him this year instead!

My lovely friend Chloe adores these books and recommended them to me – I’m reading the first one right now and I have to say, I’m falling for them too. I’m very excited to be able to be meeting the author tomorrow!

And others! There are a few other authors I can’t wait to meet (especially Katherine Webber and Holly Bourne/Maggie Harcourt both for the second times) and I’ve seen Keris Stainton is visiting so I might be able to slip in a cheeky signing if I see her!

YALC will also mark the longest drive I’ll have done so far so that’s exciting. Bring on tomorrow!

Oh, and I’ll also be live-tweeting and Instagram story-ing the whole day, so make sure to go and follow along 🙂

May your shelves forever overflow with books! ☽

  1. This is exciting. I hope you have an amazing time at YALC! I am jealous you have Songs About Us. I read Songs About a Girl through NetGalley, but the second book is not available in the US. I sort of want to know what happened. I have no idea how long I will have to wait for a US release. *sad face*
