Surprising Reads of 2017

We’re getting deeper into the new year by the day and I’d like to make sure I talk about my 2017 reads before I run out of time! As well as having disappointments of 2017 (which I’d like to talk about as well!), I had a lot of surprises and positives. So today I’m going to discuss them.

I read Seed early in the year and I really didn’t know what to expect! But I’m happy to say I was incredibly pleasantly surprised and I loved it.

I thought I would find this book so cheesy – so the shock came when I actually found it not so cliche at all! This book was so well written and I loved the charatcers so much.

I will never be a massive John Green fan, so this one surprised me as I didn’t think I would like a John Green book as much as I enjoyed this one.

I don’t think surprising reads have to be a complete change around – I just didn’t expect this one to become a favourite of mine. I didn’t expect so much, and I have to say I really underestimated it!

Caraval is very unlike anything I’d usually read, but I really love the world Stephanie Garber created. The enthralling writing gave me a pleasant shock!

Which books did you find surprising in 2017?

  1. Caraval was a nice surprise for me too! I loved it, and I don’t usually enjoy fantasy books. I also adored Everything Leads to You and I can’t wait to pick up Turtles all the Way Down! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Here’s to many more pleasant surprises this year!💗💗

  2. I have Songs About A Girl waiting on my shelf to be read. I bought it because I´m a live photographer and have many times during my teenage years have the thought, what if I should fall for an artist or a bandmember so when I saw this book I just had to get it. I was so affraid it was going to be cheesy but now I feel a little bit more exited to read it.

My surprice read for 2017 must be Daughter of The Pirate King. I didn´t think I would love it so much and that I laughed out loud so many times!
