Let’s Discuss! Reading More Than One Book

It’s time for another discussion post and today I’m going to be chatting about a subject I’ve wanted to talk about for a while – reading more than one books at once.

This is something I often see in the bookish community but I’ve only just started doing, and I find it really weird. I’ve always found it very important to only read one book and not to lose focus on that one story. That’s why I still only usually read one book!

I’ve been getting through the Harry Potter series recently, and for the past two months or so, I’ve been determined to not read any books that don’t include Hogwarts. As I’m sure with many people reading long series also feel, it’s hard not to be tempted by reading other books!

But it’s still not often I actually read more than one book. For a start, I knew I would be so distracted from Hogwarts if I started another book and I would never start again. I always feel this way with books and I kind of still see it as a ‘I’ll never read the first book’ if I pick up a second!

So if I do ever read two books at once, one of them is always a non-fiction so I’m not distracted from the first! Do you find this, or can you read more than one book?

  1. I used to not read multiple books at the same time, but I actually find it nice now because you never know what you’re in the mood for. Sometimes, reading a happy book when you’re sad kills your experience, so I like to “mood read” depending on what I feel like.

      1. I use OverDrive! It’s an app I use through my library. Basically if your local library participates in it, you can use your library card to check out e-books and audiobooks. It’s pretty cool lol. And the selection is great! 🙂

  2. The only time I read more than one book at once is when I’m reading something for uni. I could never read two books that I know I’ll really enjoy at the same time because I’ll get so distracted! Great post😊

  3. Interesting post! Personally, I’ve found that I can’t read more than one book at a time, because I often confuse the plots… unless I’m reading one book for pleasure and one book for school, because those titles are often really different and therefore impossible to confuse.

  4. i can’t not read multiple books at once! i swear i’m technically 20-50 pages into every “unread” book i own. i always pick up a bunch of books before sticking with one, and then if more than one grabs me i guess i’m reading more than one!!
