Stacking the Shelves #51

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga where we share books we’ve bought this week. Find out more and join in here!

I really managed to control my book-buying in April, but May has hit and ohhh dear. I went into a bookshop the other day and I have now already bought two books. But I did have some kind of self control – because the books were buy-one-get-one-half-price and I wasn’t going to buy one without the other. I found Obsidio, and it took me a whole two looks around the shop to find another that I wanted.

But we got there in the end! Here are the two books I’ve bought so far this month.

Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they’ll find seven months after the invasion?
Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha’s past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.
With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heroes will fall, and hearts will be broken.

Andre Aciman’s Call Me by Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents’ cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. Each is unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, when, during the restless summer weeks, unrelenting currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion and test the charged ground between them. Recklessly, the two verge toward the one thing both fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. It is an instant classic and one of the great love stories of our time.

Did you buy any books this week?

  1. I haven’t bought any books this week yet, other than downloading my Amazon First Read Pick for the month (which doesn’t count, at least to me!). I have been eyeing Cinder though, to complete my Lunar Chronicles collection, and I want to get a Kindle so I don’t have to read on my phone anymore, so there may be lots of book-buying in the next week or two

      1. I wasn’t a big fan of Cinder either, and she’s still my least favorite character in the series. Scarlet was the book that won me over, so I’d recommend giving that one a try before you decide to give up on it
