Stacking the Shelves #53

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga where we share books we’ve bought this week. Find out more and join in here!

I’m really trying to not buy books at all at the moment, but of course there are times when exceptions pop up and you just can’t resist. You can see from my review of Caraval how much I adore this series, and I’ve followed the author on social media ever since.

Anyway I was vaguely aware of this book coming out but not entirely sure of whether I would be able to buy it immediately, when she posted something on Instagram. The first print/pre-orders of this book in hardback in the UK will be the only ones to have exclusive under-cover designs like the ones below!

How could I resist those and the beautiful cover? It was in my Amazon basket right away.

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.
Welcome, welcome to Caraval…the games have only just begun.

  1. I didn’t buy any physical books, but I did by two e-books on sale, A Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. Oh, and Six of Crows finally arrived from Book Depository, although I obviously bought that one a while back.
