Beautiful Quotes #128 / History Is All You Left Me

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

Hi readers! This past week has flown by in a blur of working and seeing friends and family. It’s also been an interesting week as I bought a Kindle! I’ve always struggled with e-books as reading from my phone gave me headaches, so after years I finally made the decision to buy a Kindle Paperwhite! I picked a scratched secondhand one up cheap off eBay and I’ve surprised myself by absolutely loving it. I mainly picked it up because I want to read Netgalley books, and I’ve already finished my first one (review coming tomorrow).

On a different note, today’s Beautiful Quote is from History is All you Left Me by Adam Silvera. I wanted to include one of my favourite LGBTQIA+ reads for Pride Month!

“People are complicated puzzles, always trying to piece together a complete picture, but sometimes we get it wrong and sometimes we’re left unfinished. Sometimes that’s for the best. Some pieces can’t be forced into a puzzle, or at least they shouldn’t be, because they won’t make sense.”

Beautiful Quotes #127 / A Very Large Expanse of Sea

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I last posted a Beautiful Quote! A LOT has happened since that last personal update.

  • I have travelled! I went to Greece with my boyfriend, and just a week later we went down to London to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
  • I finished my first year of uni and I started a job! Both of these are huge accomplishments for me and I’m so proud of myself. I’ve been settling into my job over the past few weeks which may explain why I’ve been off the radar a little. It’s very tiring as I work early morning shifts but I’m honestly enjoying it and the people are really lovely!
  • I’ve bought a lot of books…as I’ve been preparing for YALC. At the moment I’m reading Girls of Paper and Fire and trying to get through my YALC TBR. I’m super excited for that weekend!

So that’s a quick summary of my life recently. As you may or may not know, I recently read The Love and Lies of Rukhsana Ali also in preparation for YALC, and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a book I loved even more, A Very Large Expanse of Sea. So today we have a quote from that one!

“I didn’t believe it was possible to hide a woman’s beauty. I thought women were gorgeous no matter what they wore, and I didn’t think they owed anyone an explanation for their sartorial choices. Different women felt comfortable in different outfits.
They were all beautiful.”

Beautiful Quotes #126 / With Malice

Hello lovelies! All being well, I should be sunning myself in Greece right now. I’ve set up posts to queue this week, but I’ll hopefully still be online some of the time!

I thought I’d go with something summery with a twist for today’s Beautiful Quotes. How about a mystery set in gorgeous Italy?

Beautiful Quotes #125 / How To Be Bad

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

Hi all! I’m back with another summery read today. I guess summer must be on my mind at the moment! The weather is definitely getting warmer in the UK, although April showers turned out to be abundant this year for us. I must also be thinking about summer because I go to Greece later this week! I’m super excited because it’s a new destination for both myself and my boyfriend and it looks so beautiful.

I’m gathering up books to take with me and I was thinking about summer road trip books! Here’s one I really enjoyed (and is also the book that made me want to visit the Epcot centre).

Beautiful Quotes #124 / One Italian Summer

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

Hello all! I know I usually do a little bit of a personal update with these posts but today we have a mega one. I know I’ve been a bit off the radar and on-and-off on the blog and social media recently but I’ve had very good reason too! I know I’ve been mentioning this for a while so today is the day I spill my big news…I moved house! My boyfriend and I have been in a small flat for the past year and we recently moved into a bigger place. So of course it’s been an extremely busy couple of weeks jam-packed with shifting boxes and sorting.

One of the many upsides of this is I’m able to have my bookshelves in our guest room! I’ve organised my books in a different way to how I used to have them (hence the ‘my shelves‘ page needs a MAJOR overhaul. And might have to go offline for a bit), but I’m so in love with them.

We now have a cute little garden, and our main focus this weekend has been sorting that out. It’s been a beautiful, summery weekend and I thought I’d reflect that with a summery book, so today we have a quote from One Italian Summer by Keris Stainton.

‘You’re eighteen. You have to start living your own life. That doesn’t mean we won’t be a family it doesn’t mean we’re not going to be okay.’

Beautiful Quotes #123 / Leah on the Offbeat

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

Hi everyone! I’ve been busy this past week and I even got to attend an awesome event last night and rewatch Love, Simon with my lovely friend Courtney! We had an awesome time and both really enjoyed it, so here I am with a quote from it’s sequel, Leah on the Offbeat. I loved this book, and it’s one of the only YA books about body positivity.

As I’m super busy at the moment, I knew I needed easy reads to keep me going. So I picked up Morganville, which I’m rereading the first 5 books of before I carry on with this mammoth 15 book series. They’re so fun, entertaining and quick, which is perfect.

Anyway, back to Leah, and here’s the beautiful quote of the week!

“Imagine going about your day knowing someone’s carrying you in their mind. That has to be the best part of being in love- the feeling of having a home in some else’s brain.”

Beautiful Quotes #122 / A Court of Wings and Ruin

Beautiful Quotes is a weekly meme hosted by me, where I post some of my favourite quotes. Any other bloggers are welcome to join me in this and just link my blog!

Hello everyone! Today we’re welcoming a brand new month and the UK has definitely seen some warmer weather recently. I put my sunflowers outside today for some bright sunshine 🙂

Honestly, today has been a pretty awesome day for reasons I’m sure I’ll let you guys know about very soon! This news is keeping me busy (hence I’m struggling to sit down and design bookmarks at the moment), but it’s not stopping me reading or blogging! March wasn’t such a great month for the blog, and I definitely feel like I neglected it a little. However, part of that was definitely because it was taking me a while to get through such long books, and April is definitely going to be more fast-paced!

Neither me or Pete are going to be putting the blog at the forefront of our minds this month – unfortunately we both just can’t – and I feel okay about that. Other things need my focus right now and that’s fine, especially because it’s all good and exciting!

Today’s Beautiful Quote is from A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas. After reading East of Eden it’s been good to start The Bane Chronicles and get back into fantasy for sure!
