  • As I’m sure my Goodreads friends know, I update on there wayyyy too much 😛
  • I love reading in many places, but some of my favourites are on the train, at the beach, in the bath and in my bed. And yes, I’ve never dropped a book in the bath!

Book Tag: Goodreads Tag

The lovely Marie over at Kookbookery tagged me to do the Goodreads Tag a while back! I’ve only just found space in my blog schedule but it looks like a good one. I’m an avid user of Goodreads, so hopefully I’ll be able to write an interesting post about using it!

goodreads_booktag

What was the last book you marked as read?

1217100

Goodreads | Amazon

As you probably know, the last book I marked as read was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Unfortunately, it only received 2 stars from me! If you want to find out my (13) reasons why, click here or go to my last post.

What are you currently reading?

18692431

Goodreads | Amazon

I’ve finally started Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and I have to admit I’m loving it so far. How could a book blogger not like reading about a girl who posts book reviews on Tumblr?

What was the last book you marked as “to read”?

29979298

Goodreads | Amazon

I recently read the first book in this series (review here), and even though I didn’t absolutely love it, I am intrigued enough to want to read the second one!

Do you use the star system?

I do! I used to rate by moons (to give my blog a little unique-ness), but the star system is logical and recognisable. I do like to give half stars sometimes on my blog though!

Are you doing the 2017 reading challenge?

2017.png

I am! I’ve been at least 4 books behind since the start of the year, but I’m finally catching up and I’m only two books behind at the moment!

Do you have a wishlist?

I wouldn’t say I have a wishlist as such, but I treat my to-read list as one. I also have a TBR jar on my bookshelf!

Who are your favourite authors?

Ohh, there are many! It’s hard to pick, but here are some:

  • Stephanie Garber
  • Rainbow Rowell
  • Jennifer Niven
  • Morgan Matson
  • Sarah Dessen

Have you joined any groups?

I’m part of two groups! The Bloggers Unite group and the Top 5 Wednesday group.

How many Goodreads shelves do you have?

I don’t have many actually! I currently have to-read, to-buy, read and woah-amazing-read.

I tag:

Sophie | Mind of a Bookdragon
Hannah | The World is Quiet Here
Kerrie | Comfy Reading (new follower welcome!)

Book Tag: The Liebster Award

It’s been ages since I’ve had the chance to take part in a book tag – so I was overjoyed to see Never Trust a Book Nerd had tagged me to do the Liebster Award! Thank you 🙂

I think I’ve taken part in this tag before, but as the questions change each time, I thought why not take part again?

Image result for liebster award

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions they gave you.
  3. Nominate 11 blogs.
  4. Give them 11 questions to answer.

What got you to start reading books?

My parents are probably the reason I started reading – after all, it’s just something I’ve always done. However, I started reading YA after I loved the amazing All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven!

What’s the best book-to-movie adaptation you’ve seen so far?

Oh my gosh, that’s a really hard question. I think it’ll have to be The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 as I think it explained the complicated events perfectly!

What is the best fanart of your favorite book?

Image result for all the bright places fanart

That’s a really difficult question – I’ve seen so many – but I do really love this quote!

What’s your pet peeve when it comes to books?

I have a very niche pet peeve – novels where the protagonist is somehow ‘saved’ from their mental illness by falling in love. It just doesn’t work like that!

Who is your favorite character and why is it him/her?

That’s such a difficult one, but I have to say I always relate to Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I also find I’m very much like Claire from the Morganville series by Rachel Caine. Claire is so determined, but she still has a soft and emotional interior.

Hardcover or Paperback?

Ahh, this is so difficult. There were times when I’d have said hardback full stop, but now I love the feel of a paperback. I don’t think I could choose either, because I like them both for different reasons!

If you could bring a character back from death, who would it be?

*SPOILER ALERT (ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES)* I have to say Finch, but then again, the book wouldn’t be what it is without the ending it had. *END OF SPOILER*

Do you own any bookish merchandise? Show us some of your favorites, please.

Poetic art

I do! I own many, many bookmarks, pins, bags and posters from numerous events – but some of my favourites are the 2 big posters in the back of this photo! I got them from YALC last year, and my room wouldn’t be the same without them.

If you could turn a book into a movie, which one would you film?

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. Hands down, I want to see that one on film. I’d also love to make a trailer for it!

If you could change an ending of a book, which ending would you change and why?

Ahh, maybe Paper Towns by John Green. I’d like to see a spark, please 😛

Do you have any signed books? If so, which ones? If not, which ones would you like to get signed?

Off the top of my head, here’s a few I have signed:

The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
I’ll Give You the Sun and The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Carry On, Fangirl, Kindred Spirits, Eleanor & Park and Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Unconventional by Maggie Harcourt
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Steifvater
The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials by James Dasher
All the Bright Places and Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven
The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood
My Name is Leon by Kit De Waal
Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne
Mind Your Head by Juno Dawson
Midnight Bites by Rachel Caine
The Next Together by Lauren James

So I guess I have a lot of signed books, huh?

I nominate:

Mind of a Bookdragon
Bookish Endeavors
The World is Quiet Here
Quirky and Peculiar
Rants and Raves of a Bibliophile
Book Bum Zuky
Blame Swift and Books
Stories and Spoons
Ardent Attachments
Keeana Reads
Galaxy Locks

My questions for you

  1. How do you get out of a reading slump?
  2. Which 3 books would you take with you on a desert island?
  3. Name a book you want to burn.
  4. Name a lesser-known book you love!
  5. Which book do you love the setting of?
  6. Which OTP do you hate?
  7. Name a song you associate with your favourite book.
  8. Where do you love to read?
  9. What do you love to snack on while you’re reading?
  10. Talk about a bookish world you want to explore
  11. What’s your favourite LGBTQIA+ read?

As always, if you like the look of this post and the questions I asked – feel free to go ahead and BE TAGGED!

Tag: Mystery Blogger Award

It’s been so long since I’ve done a tag – so I’m very happy to be doing one again! Thanks to my gorgeous friend Sophie over at Mind of a Book Dragon for tagging me and to Okoto Enigma for starting this tag. I’m sorry I couldn’t sit down and complete this tag sooner, but real life has been calling and I had to answer!

photogrid_1476365612975

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.
– Okoto Enigma

Rules:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog (I picked an alternate version of the logo).
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link to their blog as well.
  • Tell your readers three things about yourself.
  • Answer questions of nominator.
  • Nominate 10-20 people.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question.
  • Share your link to your best post(s).

So to start, here’s 3 things you may or may not know about me…

  1. I really want to move to America one day!
  2. I just baked a healthy version of a chocolate brownie
  3. I’m totally plugging myself, but I’m a YouTuber over at Tea Pusheen!

And here’s the 5 questions Sophie asked me!

What assumption do people make about your reading habits that is the most inaccurate?

That I can read a book in one sitting – I just can’t. I don’t have the time! ‘One sitting’ to me means you forget to eat and sleep. I don’t do that…I read around things. That’s just how life has to be!

Favorite genre to read on a rainy day?

That’s so hard – but probably romance! Romance is such a comforting genre for me.

What’s your go to read when you’re in a slump?

A re-read, short stories or a favourite author! Something I know I’ll love and that will motivate me to read more.

2017 cover you’re completely lusting over right now?

27883214

Goodreads | Amazon

Omg! Such a hard one as there is just so many – but isn’t this just gorgeous? I also might be a little biased as I’m hopefully meeting the author next month…

Bonus (fun) question: You get to take over the life of a supporting character. Who is it and why?

This was really hard, but I’m going to say Eve from the Morganville Vampires series! Definitely not just because I want Michael…

My favourite posts:

Let’s Discuss! How To Bookstagram #1

Let’s Discuss! Mental Health in YA

Random: I Met Jennifer Niven!

Who I’m Tagging

Hannah – The World is Quiet Here

Maddie – Of Reading and Random Things

Ayustika – That Bibliophilic Cauldron

My questions for you!

  1. Have you ever read a book, finished it and immediately started it again?
  2. What’s your favourite place to read?
  3. Do you prefer one, two or more Points of View in a story?
  4. Name a book you only rated one star!
  5. Fun bonus! If you could choose any 3 authors to host a panel at a book convention/signing, which 3 authors would you choose?

Thanks for reading! If anyone else would like to take part in this tag, just go ahead!

Book vs. Movie: New Moon (Twilight #2)

Image result for new moon twilight

The simplest way to put it – these movie adaptations continue to annoy me. I just feel like they’re so…forget-able. There’s no easy way to say it, but they’re weak. Really weak.

And I want to say, so badly, that this is the movie makers fault. But honestly, I think I’m just lying to myself. Because in the end, who was the writer of this dialogue? There was no scriptwriting from scratch…this movie is an adaptation. And I’m sorry to say, it was Stephanie Meyer who did a bad job at the dialogue.

I wish I could say otherwise, but this is the easiest way to explain: the dialogue simply isn’t strong enough to stand up on it’s own. And on a final note, I can’t help but feel that if this movie had been more heavily based on Bella’s inside thoughts…it might have been a lot more relatable.

Have you watched New Moon? What did you think compared to the book?

So I’m here relaxing at the library after a morning at college and scrolling through my reader, wondering when I last did a book tag! A post by Of Reading and Random Things jumps out at me, and I begin to read.
