Hi everyone! This week I only bought one book – and honestly I feel like my book-buying has finally slowed a bit. That’s no bad thing – my physical TBR hasn’t decreased at all in the past year and it’s beginning to annoy me. So I’m really going to try my hardest to catch up on physical books to read instead and stop buying new ones!

Love speaks in flowers. Truth requires thorns.
Travel to a world of dark bargains struck by moonlight, of haunted towns and hungry woods, of talking beasts and gingerbread golems, where a young mermaid’s voice can summon deadly storms and where a river might do a lovestruck boy’s bidding but only for a terrible price.
Inspired by myth, fairy tale, and folklore, no. 1 New York Times-bestselling author Leigh Bardugo has crafted a deliciously atmospheric collection of short stories filled with betrayals, revenge, sacrifice, and love.
This collection of six stories includes three brand-new tales, all of them beautifully illustrated with art by Sara Kiplin that changes with each turn of the page, culminating in six stunning full-spread illustrations as rich in detail as the stories themselves.

The plus side of buying this book, is that it’s an edition of a book I’ve already read! Which means no additions to my physical TBR! I read this book recently and loved it, so when I saw this exclusive Fairyloot edition on eBay with red foiling, I knew I’d have to add it to my collection.

Hi everyone! Welcome to another Stacking the Shelves post, where I talk about any books I bought this week. Before I start, I have to tell you guys that I’ve just been to see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald! It has it’s downsides, but overall I absolutely loved being back in this magical world.

As I’m sure you’ve seen before, I visit my local second-hand bookshops regularly and on my most recent trip, I found these two books in hardback! I bought Hush, Hush a while ago second-hand, and I’ve been searching for the rest ever since. I was lucky enough to spot the 2nd and 3rd books in hardback and one of them is even signed! Now I only need to find the last book and I’ll be done 🙂

Hi guys! I’m currently reading the first book I bought (50 pages to go!) and I’m really enjoying it. My review should be up later this week.

It’s 2002, a year after 9/11. It’s an extremely turbulent time politically, but especially so for someone like Shirin, a sixteen-year-old Muslim girl who’s tired of being stereotyped.
Shirin is never surprised by how horrible people can be. She’s tired of the rude stares, the degrading comments—even the physical violence—she endures as a result of her race, her religion, and the hijab she wears every day. So she’s built up protective walls and refuses to let anyone close enough to hurt her. Instead, she drowns her frustrations in music and spends her afternoons break-dancing with her brother.
But then she meets Ocean James. He’s the first person in forever who really seems to want to get to know Shirin. It terrifies her—they seem to come from two irreconcilable worlds—and Shirin has had her guard up for so long that she’s not sure she’ll ever be able to let it down.

I also picked up this book, Taherah Mafi’s new book, A Very Large Expanse of Sea. I’m enjoying Shatter Me and it’ll be interesting to see her write something different!

Hi everyone! This week I bought a few books, one at a signing and a few more cheaply. I’m running out of rooms on my shelves…

Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.
Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.
But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them?
Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.
Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.
But what if they can’t quite nail a first date . . . or a second first date . . . or a third?
What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work . . . and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?
What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?
But what if it is?

I pre-ordered this with my ticket when I went to meet Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera! I’m so excited to finally get my hands on a copy, and I’ve just started reading it already.

In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Timesbestselling Mortal Instruments series.
The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them…

My lovely friend Chloe alerted me that the same bookshop I bought my The Mortal Instruments set from have started selling a set of The Infernal Devices. Of course I couldn’t resist picking one up when I walked past that bookshop a couple of days later. Now I’m all ready for my Shadowhunters read over Christmas!

So…I still haven’t stopped buying books. Oops. But am I mad at myself? No, not really. Because I might be buying a lot of books, but I’m not spending a lot of money!

When they got in the lift, they were strangers (though didn’t that guy used to be on TV?): Sasha, who is desperately trying to deliver a parcel; Hugo, who knows he’s the best-looking guy in the lift and is eyeing up Velvet, who knows what that look means when you hear her name and it doesn’t match the way she looks, or the way she talks; Dawson, who was on TV, but isn’t as good-looking as he was a few years ago and is desperately hoping no one recognizes him; Kaitlyn, who’s losing her sight but won’t admit it, and who used to have a poster of Dawson on her bedroom wall, and Joe, who shouldn’t be here at all, but who wants to be here the most.
And one more person, who will bring them together again on the same day every year.

I bought my current read, Floored, in a buy-one-get-one-half-price deal! It’s a great deal in Waterstones and whenever I find two books I want, I get them.

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked…until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.
Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

I also browsed the clearance section of another local bookshop and found a hardback edition of this for half the price! It’s because of a small crack in the inside of the front cover, but you would never know without opening the book up! On the outside, it’s in pristine condition, so it doesn’t bother me. I’ve wanted to read this for a while, so I picked it up for only £6.50.

I’ve wanted this edition of City of Bones for a while, and then discovered a thing called Amazon Warehouse. They sell secondhand copies of books for cheap with free shipping! My copy is slightly damaged unfortunately, but only cost £3.

Hi readers! I keep buying books…but at least these are second hand. I really try to buy books on deals or second hand whenever I can – as long as they’re in good condition I really don’t mind having used books on my shelves!

You might think it’s weird that I randomly bought the middle book of this series, but I had the first book and the last book in hardback, and the second in paperback. It’s been this way for a couple of years now, until I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a second hand hardback copy to complete my set.

I’ve been slowly collecting these copies of A Song of Ice and Fire, and I found this one recently when my boyfriend and I visited our local second hand bookshop. Now I’ve got 3 out of the collection all second hand!
