Book Tag: One Lovely Blog Award

I’m very excited to say that my lovely friend Ellie from Blogging for Dopamine has nominated me for a tag! I haven’t done a tag for a while and I love doing them, so hopefully it’ll be interesting to read 🙂

So, here are the rules!

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog
  2. Add the One Lovely Blog Award to your post
  3. Share seven things about yourself
  4. Pass this on to as many people as you like (max 15)
  5. Include this set of rules
  6. Inform your nominees

And I guess I now have to come up with seven random things about me?

  • I’m a media student studying media and journalism!
  • I’m looking to go into camera operating, and I’d love to travel and work on many different things
  • I love photography, and I attend a photography club
  • I look after my classmates so much, they call me ‘college mum’ (yes, really!)
  • I was home schooled for all of my high school years – which makes for some interesting stories!
  • I occasionally suffer with anxiety, and I have all of my life. I’m also very open about mental health!
  • You’ll more likely find me binge-watching Food Network than Netflix

So those are a few random things about me!

Book Tag: Goodreads Tag

The lovely Marie over at Kookbookery tagged me to do the Goodreads Tag a while back! I’ve only just found space in my blog schedule but it looks like a good one. I’m an avid user of Goodreads, so hopefully I’ll be able to write an interesting post about using it!

What was the last book you marked as read?

Goodreads | Amazon

As you probably know, the last book I marked as read was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Unfortunately, it only received 2 stars from me! If you want to find out my (13) reasons why, click here or go to my last post.

What are you currently reading?

Goodreads | Amazon

I’ve finally started Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and I have to admit I’m loving it so far. How could a book blogger not like reading about a girl who posts book reviews on Tumblr?

What was the last book you marked as “to read”?

Goodreads | Amazon

I recently read the first book in this series (review here), and even though I didn’t absolutely love it, I am intrigued enough to want to read the second one!

Do you use the star system?

I do! I used to rate by moons (to give my blog a little unique-ness), but the star system is logical and recognisable. I do like to give half stars sometimes on my blog though!

Are you doing the 2017 reading challenge?

I am! I’ve been at least 4 books behind since the start of the year, but I’m finally catching up and I’m only two books behind at the moment!

Do you have a wishlist?

I wouldn’t say I have a wishlist as such, but I treat my to-read list as one. I also have a TBR jar on my bookshelf!

Who are your favourite authors?

Ohh, there are many! It’s hard to pick, but here are some:

  • Stephanie Garber
  • Rainbow Rowell
  • Jennifer Niven
  • Morgan Matson
  • Sarah Dessen

Have you joined any groups?

I’m part of two groups! The Bloggers Unite group and the Top 5 Wednesday group.

How many Goodreads shelves do you have?

I don’t have many actually! I currently have to-read, to-buy, read and woah-amazing-read.

I tag:

Sophie | Mind of a Bookdragon
Hannah | The World is Quiet Here
Kerrie | Comfy Reading (new follower welcome!)

Tag: Blogger Recognition Award

Hi guys! Today I still don’t have a review for you (although I’m finally getting into Red Queen so my review should be up over the next few days), so I’m going to be doing a tag!

Thank you to Emma for nominating me for this!

The rules:

  • Write a post to show your award
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started
  • Give two advice to new bloggers
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to

Why did I start this blog?

My story is actually extremely similar to Emma’s, although I didn’t own a blog before ours! She started a book blog early 2015, mentioned it to me and I quickly wanted to join in! We ran a blog together from March-September, when our friendship hit hard times, and we decided not to keep it that way. To put it bluntly, running the blog together was affecting us, and neither of us wanted that!

But on the other hand, both of still wanted to talk about our passion for books, and so we went our separate ways and started our own blogs! Since then, The Books Are Everywhere has been my place, and The Book Crunch has been Emma’s! And we still came out the other side better friends than ever.

Tips for new bloggers?

1…have fun, do it for you, not for other people! No one else is going to like your blog if you don’t, and if you’re not putting your heart and soul into it, that won’t show to a reader. So just do what makes you happy and stop worrying about other people!

2…as Emma said, interact! Most people are so lovely in the book blogging community, and you’ll be surprised how quickly people will be commenting on and following your blog if you interact with them!

I’m tagging:

You! If you haven’t done this tag and fancy it, go ahead…I tag you!

Above I tried to include some of the very first people that followed my blog, instead of my most recent followers like I usually do. Here, I’d just like to take a moment to thank everyone who has clicked that follow button. If you hadn’t, I wouldn’t still be here. So honestly, I can’t thank you all enough.

BookTag: #AnonymousBookaholics

Hi! The lovely Lauren tagged me to this one, so thank you to her! I would definitely recommend a visit to her blog as it’s a great one and Lauren herself is so lovely!

So, if I tagged you, what do you need to do?

Basically this tag is just to share our addiction to books around the AB community! All you need to do is answer the questions I will post below and talk about your obsession.

What do you like about buying new books?

Well, everything! It goes without saying, really. But one of my favourite things has to be receiving bookmail – I just can’t wait to open that gorgeous parcel and discover my next-favourite book.

How often do you buy new books?

I try and stick to one or two a week! My bank account is just like, constantly…

But to beat that…

Bookstore or online book shopping – which do you prefer?

Both – for different reasons. I love the atmosphere of bookstores, but online shopping tends to be cheaper…so I usally go for that.

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

Favourite? Favourite?

Truthfully though, I’ve got to say, Waterstones. Purely for the atmosphere and decor in my closest one!

Do you preorder books?

Yes, but not often. I just don’t usually have the money, unfortunately.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

arrested development juice buster bluth season 4 off the hook

That’s that answered.

Book buying bans – Are they something for you?

In other words, no. Although I do try to cut back if I have a long physical TBR.

How big is your wishlist?

So small…

Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own NOW?

Anyone who hasn’t done this already!

Book Tag: This or That

Hi everyone!

The lovely Emma nominated me to do the This or That book tag – thank you!

Here are the rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Choose one of the options.
  • Tag 10 other people to do this tag and spread the love!

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?

Bed! My favourite place to read is in the morning after an episode of Arrested Development to start the day.

2. Male main character or female main character?

I don’t usually mind to be honest! In fact, I like having both POV.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

Ohh…I don’t know! Anything, really. Popcorn comes to mind when I randomly think of it.

4. Trilogies or quartets?

As Emma said, it really depends on the story. And also as Emma said, I really agree that The Hunger Games should have been a quartet!

5. First-person point of view or third-person point of view?

Easy, first. I like feeling connected to the character and I find it hard to in third person most of the time!

6. Reading at night or in the morning?

Morning, for sure. I do also read at night but I much prefer reading in the morning in natural light!

7. Libraries or bookstores?

Although I love the atmosphere of libraries, it’s pretty hard to walk out of there knowing I have to take the books back sometime soon!

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

Laugh. I mean, I love both and crying just gives you the feels obviously, but I just love a good comedy.

9. Black book covers or white book covers?

I adore both, but I’m going to say white due to the fact that I love unique covers and they tend to be less popular!

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?

Character, for definite. As with first person I like feeling close to the characters!

BookTag: The Music Artist Character Tag

Hi everyone! I’m back with another (AMAZING) tag, which I was asked to do by the lovely Emma!

  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Choose a singer/band/DJ/anyone in music that you love
  • Choose 5 songs that they have written and pick a book character that the song should describe
  • Tag other bloggers to do it

My artist (How did you guess?)

Finch & Violet from All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Broken things are beautiful, too.

2. Break Your Little Heart

Lennie from The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

Only for part of the book, but I think this is kind of appropriate!

3. A Daydream Away

Baz & Simon from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Specifically Baz to Simon at the start of this amazing book!

4. Stay Awake (Dreams Only Last For a Night)

Jaycee from You Were Here by Cori McCarthy

Jaycee comes across as so fragile, I thought this song would be perfect for her. She needs to be told that nightmares only last for a night, too.

5. If These Sheets Were States

Owen & Lucy from The Geography of You & Me by Jennifer E. Smith

I think this pretty much applies to any long distance relationship, though.

I really enjoyed doing this tag! I expected to find it a lot harder than it was, and it didn’t take me long to get 5.

I’m tagging

The Emoji Book Tag

Hi everyone, and welcome to another book tag! I’ve been tagged to do this one by the lovely Emma from The Book Crunch, thank you to her!

  • Thank the person who tags you
  • Use your five most recent emojis and chose a book that goes along with it
  • Tag some awesome people

Let’s start! (In my case it’s my most used emojis, by the way!)

Laughing so hard I cry

How To Be Bad by E. Lockhart, Sarah Mylnowski & Lauren Myracle
Goodreads | Amazon

I love this book so much, and I adored the comedy side of it. I even remember some scenes when I actually laughed out loud!

Two hearts

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Goodreads | Amazon

A lot of books obviously come to mind when you think of the whole ‘love’ thing, but this one really stood out. Such a cute but unique novel, and one I will always love!

Heart eyes

I’ll Give You he Sun by Jandy Nelson
Goodreads | Amazon

This emoji always reminds me of fangirling, and a book I most definitely fangirl over is both of Jandy Nelson’s!

Not If I See You First by Eric Landstrom
Goodreads | Amazon

A book that always makes me smile has to be this one, I loved it and I’d definitely read it again!

The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Goodreads | Amazon

Another emoji where a lot of books come to mind with this emoji, as with many others. But The Art of Being Normal is one where I felt proper, deep sadness for the main characters and how they are cast out from ‘normal’ life for being who they are…

I’m tagging!

Books and Quills

The Orang-Utan Library

Shelf Respect

Chocolatenwaffles’ blog

The Calico Books

Don’t feel like you need to participate in this if I tagged you, and if you haven’t been tagged and want to join in, feel free!
