This review is for Volumes 1-4 of Lore Olympus. I’ve read volumes 1 and 2 before, but it was my first time reading volumes 3 and 4. I decided to pick up all of these in one day, and it was such fun to be able to immerse myself fully into this world and story.

I love the artwork in these graphic novels and the colour palette is absolutely beautiful. I also appreciate and enjoy how all of the characters have a different colour theme, and it does change how each volume is presented. Having not a lot of previous knowledge of the Greek Gods, I do find these quite accessible and the idea of this being a story of the Greek Gods ‘after dark’ is such a fun idea.

However, my main criticism of these books, especially volume 4, is that I feel like the focus is sometimes lost. These books are mainly meant to be about Hades and Persephone, and I really wanted more of their relationship and sexual tension in the later volumes, 3 and 4. I hope we get more focus on them as the volumes continue.

These graphic novels do cover some quite difficult and emotional themes, and it is worth checking content warnings before reading.

I read the first volume of Lore Olympus after my friend Amy recommended it late last year, and I was very excited to pick up volume 2. I actually preferred Volume 2 to Volume 1, which was just as beautiful but had more focus on the relationship between Persephone and Hades. I once again sped through this volume, which is detailed in drawing but doesn’t have a massive amount of text to read through.

Episode 26 – Webtoon

The art is absolutely beautiful, and I loved the colour combinations once again. Each character has their own colour, which I really love as it separates each character clearly and makes it easy to focus on the story without being confused about each character.

I’m loving this series and I definitely preferred this volume to the first one, so I can’t wait to see where it goes in future volumes! Just make sure to check content warnings (which are also listed at the start of the book) if you’d like to pick it up.

What a beautiful book. I’m so glad I decided to pick up the stunning Illumicrate edition of this book and I decided to squeeze it in as my last read of 2021. As a graphic novel, it’s super quick to read but is definitely not without substance and style.

The colouring and artwork in this graphic novel are absolutely gorgeous and I’ve not seen the kind of colour combinations used throughout this comic. Each character has an allocated colour, which looks beautiful and made it easy to follow as someone who doesn’t know much background information about the Greek Gods.

I love the idea of this being the Greek Gods ‘after dark’ and it does tackle some difficult issues, with a content warning at the start of the book. I’m hoping to re-read this one later in 2022 when volume 2 comes out and focus more on the beautiful panels and artwork.
